The grasper

Long before anyone knew it existed, The Grasper waited in the deepest waters, reaching through the darkness in search of its next discovery.

Depth 3,400m Threat ★★★  Tendril Stalker

The Story

Hidden within towering underwater rifts, Grasper waits with remarkable patience.

Its long grasping limbs allow it to remain concealed while reaching far beyond its body to capture unsuspecting prey. Rather than relying on speed, it strikes with precision, disappearing back into the shadows almost as quickly as it appeared.

Many explorers report feeling something brush past them before ever catching a glimpse of the creature itself.

Behind the Artwork

I wanted The Grasper to look like a shrimp mixed with a deep-sea hunter. I even imagine it could be a cousin of Lantern Larva. I made it glow blue and added spikes to its tentacles so it looks dangerous. I didn't give it any eyes because I imagined its tentacles can sense everything around it instead.
